National Lottery issues update as £208m EuroMillions winner still to come forward
One player has won the highest lottery prize ever
The National Lottery is appealing for the winner of the staggering £208m EuroMillions jackpot to come forward and claim their prize.
It comes after the EuroMillions jackpot reached its £208m (or €250m) cap at which point it must stay at that value for a maximum of five draws, when it becomes a Must Be Won draw.
One lucky ticket-holder won the eye-watering jackpot on Tuesday, June 17, after three consecutive draws with no winner, and now the National Lottery has confirmed that the ticket was bought in Munster, Ireland.
This will be Ireland’s 18th winner of the EuroMillions jackpot and its largest win ever. A spokesperson also revealed on Wednesday, June 18, that the ticket was bought in a retail store.
The winning numbers in the draw were 13, 22, 23, 44 and 49, with lucky stars 3 and 5.
By Wednesday afternoon, the winner has not yet come forward.
In an online post, the Irish National Lottery said: “We can reveal the province where the 250 million euro winning ticket was sold… MUNSTER. Check those EuroMillions tickets.”
National Lottery spokesperson Emma Monaghan told RTE Radio: “Someone in Ireland is a quarter of a billion euro richer this morning.”
She said the ticket for the “eye-watering prize” was bought in a retail store.
“If at all possible stay calm, I know that might be easier said than done. Have a cup of tea and let it sink in," Emma added.
The last Irish winner of the EuroMillions jackpot was in February 2022, when a person won 30.9 million euro with a quick pick ticket they purchased at a service station in Ballina, Co Tipperary.
In total, more than 92,000 players in Ireland won prizes in the EuroMillions and Plus games.
This staggering jackpot is the largest National Lottery prize ever to be won, setting them ahead of the current record holders.
Currently the record for the biggest UK lottery win ever is held by an anonymous player who scooped a hefty £195m jackpot on July 19, 2022.
And just two months prior to that, Joe and Jess Thwaite, from Gloucester, scored £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket for the draw on May 10, 2022.
Following Joe and Jess, the UK's third biggest win came after an anonymous ticket-holder secured the £177m jackpot in the draw on November 26, 2024. The biggest win so far in 2025 has been £83 million in January.
