A driver was left uninjured after crashing into Lost Creek Reservoir on Friday.

The driver was heading fishing after work when he rounded a curve on a gravel road, losing control of his vehicle. Officials said he overcorrected in an attempt to avoid a rock wall, and the motion sent his vehicle into the reservoir.

Officials with the Department of Wildlife Resources said the man not only survived the crash, but he also did not receive any injuries.

While details on the crash are limited, officials said he was a younger driver and likely did not have a lot of experience driving.

A tow truck arrived to pull the vehicle out of the reservoir, but it did not have the necessary equipment to do so. Officials are planning on bringing the needed equipment Saturday morning, as well as a boat and dive team, to retrieve the vehicle.

A hazmat team will also be responding early Saturday morning to try to remove as much of the oil from the reservoir as possible.
