RESIDENTS, staff, family and friends of a care home in Hillingdon enjoyed a visit by animals from a pet centre, to mark National Pet Day.
Ryefield Court, part of the Berkley Care Group, smiled as guests from Pet’s Farm turned the garden into an animal sanctuary.
It featured Sid the donkey, Rosie the goat, two sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs and Gini the dog, who quickly became a residents’ favourite.
Residents and visitors enjoyed petting, cuddling and inter-acting with the animals.
The experience offered significant wellbeing benefits, from reducing stress and boosting mood to stimulating memories and fostering connection.
Sid the donkey made room visits to those unable to come outside. Some residents were reminded of their childhoods and rural upbringings.
The visit was part of Ryefield Court’s programme of seasonal events and activities.
Madge Wang, general manager, said: “Our garden truly came to life, filled with laughter, animal sounds and the kind of magic that only comes from genuine moments of connection."
