Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly said that Egypt is keen to support cooperation with South Sudan through the implementation of joint cooperation projects, in addition to being keen to support the efforts of Egyptian companies to begin implementing joint projects between the two sides.

This came during a meeting chaired by Madbouly aimed at following up on efforts to activate cooperation between Egypt and South Sudan, in the presence of Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Hani Atef Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Ambassador Hossam Issa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Administration of Sudan and South Sudan, and officials. Ministries and concerned authorities.

Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that Egypt is interested in supporting relations with South Sudan, and the government is already implementing development projects in South Sudan, in addition to the grants and aid provided by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development to South Sudan.

Dr. Hani Atef Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, said that the Ministry has established 20 underground drinking water stations equipped with solar energy, and 2 river marinas to serve river navigation, in addition to establishing a central laboratory to analyze water quality in the city of Juba, and rehabilitating 3 water stations in the city of Juba. ", the city of Malakal, and the city of Wau.

Sweilem added: We also completed the establishment of two drinking water stations to serve citizens in the city of “Mingla” and the city of “Nimule”, in addition to 3 groundwater drinking stations that were inaugurated in January 2024, in the presence of the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, in addition to implementing a sewage disinfection project. Water in the Bahr el Ghazal Basin, with a length of 11.8 km.

He also noted that the projects being implemented will contribute to providing job opportunities, developing fishing conditions, and establishing fish farms, in addition to protecting villages and agricultural lands from drowning as a result of rising water levels during floods.
