Egyptian Gov't Reviews National Projects Implemented in S. Sudan

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, held a meeting to follow up on efforts to activate cooperation between Egypt and South Sudan, in the presence of Cabinet and Director of the Administration of Sudan and South Sudan.

At the beginning of the meeting, Madbouly stressed Egypt's keenness to support cooperation with South Sudan through the implementation of joint cooperation projects, in addition to its keenness to support the efforts of Egyptian companies to begin implementing joint projects between the two sides.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that Egypt is moving forward in implementing the projects that are currently being established, such as the Alexandria University branch in the city of Tonj, the technical school in the city of Waror, in addition to the major power station in the city of Rumbek.

Moreover, the Ministry of Irrigation has established 20 underground drinking water stations equipped with solar energy, and 2 river marinas to serve river navigation, in addition to establishing a central laboratory for analyzing water quality in the city of Juba, and rehabilitating 3 water stations in the city of Juba, the city of Malakal, and the city of Wau.

The Ministry also completed the establishment of two drinking water stations to serve citizens in the city of “Mingla” and the city of “Nimuli”, in addition to 3 underground drinking water stations that were inaugurated in January 2024, in addition to implementing a project to purify waterways in the Bahr el Ghazal Basin with a length of 11.8 km.

The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation noted that the projects being implemented will contribute to providing job opportunities, developing fishing conditions, and establishing fish farms, in addition to protecting villages and agricultural lands from drowning as a result of rising water levels during floods.
