Dan Jesse Walton

Nov. 13, 1956 – April 17, 2024

Dan Jesse Walton, our dear Husband, Father, Pops, and Brother passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife Kaye, his three children, and grandchildren at the age of 67.

Dan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on Nov. 13, 1956, to Claud and Ava Lee Walton. He met the love of his life, Kaye Cordery, at the age of 17. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple in 1979. The love he had for Kaye will serve as an example to his posterity. They resided in Murray, Utah for 33 years before moving to Washington, Utah in 2020.

He was a valiant, steadfast member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dan had a deep love for the Savior and that showed by the way he lived his life. He always looked for ways to lift, serve, and love those around him.

Dan served faithfully in numerous church callings, including working in the Jordan River Temple, and was presently serving as the Bishop of the Fairway Ward in Washington, Utah.

He served two missions for the church. The first in the New York City Mission from 1977-1979 and the second with his eternal companion, Kaye, in the New York, New York City Mission, laboring in Queens, New York, and Bermuda in 2019-2020. Both of his missions gave him a love for the Yankees, and he never missed an opportunity to watch them play.

Dan had such a love for his family. He especially enjoyed cheering on his children and his grandchildren in their sports and activities. He loved being outdoors camping, hunting, fishing, playing baseball and basketball, golfing, hiking, riding bikes, boating, and working out every day at the gym.

He had a passion for gardening and took such pride in his flowers, lawn, fruit, and vegetable garden. He loved dogs and cherished his time walking the neighborhood with his favorite, Willy. From a very young age, Dan combined delivering newspapers and selling donuts in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. That entrepreneurial spirit continued throughout his personal and professional life.

Dan will be dearly missed by his wife, Kaye; children: Jessica (Aaron), Andrew (Tamara), Kelsey (Griffen); and his 13 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers: Michael and Patrick; and sister, Sandra. Words cannot express how much we will miss our “Pops” but we know he is always nearby.

Dan was preceded in death by his father, Claud Paul; mother, Ava Lee; brother, Kelly Paul Walton; and Kaye’s parents, Raymond and Gweneth Megan Forward Cordery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Washington City Police Department and to the St. George Regional Medical Center ER and ICU staff. The exceptional care they provided will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Fairway Ward Chapel, 1080 West Arlington Street, Washington, Utah.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Elysian Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Millcreek, Utah.

Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221. Please visit our website for to submit condolences, complete obituary and funeral listings.
