Lifelong Nebraska football fan Milton Munson Jr. passed away earlier this month.

His final request, according to his obituary?

“In lieu of flowers, please place an irresponsibly large wager on Nebraska beating Iowa.”

Munson, a former resident of Hastings, Nebraska, died on Nov. 16 in Grand Island. He was 73. The Hastings Tribune published is obituary on Nov. 18.

It tells the world that Munson served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, worked as a pharmacist after the war and loved to go fishing.

The obit also includes plenty of nods to the Cornhuskers, like the time Nebraska was “jobbed by the refs against Penn State in 1982. The 2021 version of the Huskers are tied for last place in the Big Ten West with a record of 3-8.

“The grim reality of the Nebraska Cornhuskers finishing yet another season with a losing record proved to be too much to bear for Milton Andrew Munson, who decided he’d seen enough of this world during the team’s recent bye week,” the obit reads.

“The Huskers may not have sent him into the afterlife with a victory but at least they didn’t lose. And sometimes, that’s the best you can hope for.”

Munson lived in several cities throughout his life including Las Vegas, Columbia, Missouri, Hot Springs, South Dakota, and Kalispell, Montana, but according to the obit, he would always come home to Nebraska.

Munson’s beloved Cornhuskers host Iowa (9-2) in the regular season finale on Friday.
