Jersey Shore Fishing: Looking good for Sea Hunter's striper trip

The Sea Hunter from Atlantic Highlands will be sailing Sunday morning for stripers, and will do the same Monday and Tuesday if they are successful. Though N.Y. waters are closed for stripers, blackfish boats spotted birds working today off the Highlands Bridge and at Shrewsbury Rocks.

The Capt. Vinny Vetere ended up with a big catch of stripers on Friday before the N.Y. closure. He couldn't find any bunkers to fish with, but trolled his Ho-Jo lures in the Hudson River for lots of bass up to a 38-pounder on Katfish Charters out of Great Kills.

The Elaine B. II from Bahrs in Highlands will be back to blackfishing in the morning.

The Big Mohawk from Belmar reported good action with tog today, including many keepers. Anglers using jigs did best with the larger tog.
