Indian River County

Capt. Eric Davis of Vero Backcountry Fishing said his anglers are still finding trout in the Indian River Lagoon. The water may be dirty and has much lower salinity than it did a month ago, but the fish are working hard to adapt and survive. Topwater plugs fished early in the morning, soft plastic jerk baits, artificial shrimp and swim baits fished later in the morning, flies or live mullet are all getting bites. Snook, jacks, ladyfish and redfish can also be caught in the same areas south of the Alma Lee Loy Bridge to the county line.

John Gilson topped off the morning with this big black drum while enjoying a fishing adventure with wife, Theresa.

St. Lucie County

Capt. Joe Ward of Capt. Joe's Bait and Tackle on the Fort Pierce Inlet at Dockside Inn said the inlet is bustling with schools of finger mullet during the incoming tides. He caught three black drum and two red drum Thursday fishing with live shrimp. Other anglers he heard from caught mutton snapper, redfish and black drum, as he did, and snook. There also have been plenty of tarpon around as well.

Martin County

Kadri Benton of White's Tackle said when offshore anglers are able to get back to the bluewater, they can find wahoo offshore of Jupiter Inlet along the deep edges and at first light. Sea conditions should be fishable by the charter fleet and center consoles. Inshore, snook fishing has been best around structure. At 6 p.m. Monday, there will be a free snook fishing seminar with First Light Jigs at White's Tackle's Stuart location, 4271 S.E. Federal Highway.

Lake Okeechobee

Bass fishing has been steady around indian Prairie Canal, Harney Pond Canal and Sportsman's Channel near Lakeport. Fish the edges where the fish have been pushing up into the shallow areas to find things to eat with the rising water levels. The level of the lake is holding at 17.20 feet as the amount of water entering the lake is about the same as the amount of water leaving the lake via discharges. The water quality in the lake, however, is still pretty good.
