Open wide: Surgeons remove fishing line swallowed by Peachy (Picture: South Carolina Aquarium)

Everything is peachy for Peaches the sea turtle despite swallowing four feet of potentially lethal fishing line.

The 24 kilogram sea turtle was saved by South Carolina Aquarium after being found in Charleston Harbor wrapped up in fishing wire which had even entered her intestines.

Peaches was released back into the Atlantic after life-saving surgery to remove the fishing line she had swallowed.

She is a Kemp’s Ridley turtle and staff at the aquarium tagged her with a satellite transmitter so they can learn more about her species and where they go during winter months.

Scientists hoping she will be able to successfully breed to hear the pitter-patter of tiny Peachy feet.

Peachy’s luck was better than Bank the sea turtle in Thailand.

She died in March during surgery to remove nearly 1,000 coins she swallowed whilst being forced to live in a pool which people kept throwing money in for good luck.

Bank’s cause of death was blood poisoning from the loose change.

Sea turtles are one of the most ancient creatures on earth and the seven species alive now shared the planet with dinosaurs, being around for 110 million years.
