'Nothing wrong about talking succession,' minister tells Mugabe
Harare – A Zimbabwean minister has reportedly challenged President Robert Mugabe to name or groom his successor in-order to put a stop to the continued factional fights in his ruling Zanu-PF party.
Two distinct camps have emerged in Zimbabwe’s revolutionary party in recent years, as factions seek to outwit each other in the race to succeed the 93 year-old leader.
Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa is allegedly leading a faction that is angling to succeed Mugabe calling itself "Team Lacoste", while another grouping made up of young Turks, commonly known as Generation 40 and backing First Lady Grace Mugabe to succeed her ageing husband, wants to torpedo Mnangagwa’s presidential ambitions.

Avian flu: Zimbabwe bans poultry products from SA
Harare – Zimbabwe has reportedly banned all poultry products from South Africa following an outbreak of avian flu in Mpumalanga and Free State provinces.
According to the state-owned Herald newspaper, the department of veterinary services director, Dr Josphat Nyika, said the banned products included hatching eggs, table eggs, frozen chicken and mechanically de-boned meat.

Harare - #ThisFlag protest leader Evan Mawarire faced a second night in police custody on Tuesday after police charged him with crimes against public order, his lawyer said.
Mawarire was arrested on Monday while addressing University of Zimbabwe medical students at a gathering to protest a recent hike in tuition fees.

'I'm still in good spirits,' says jailed Zambian opposition leader Hichilema
Lusaka – Zambian opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema who was arrested after failing to give right of way to President Edgar Lungu's convoy says he is in "good spirits", despite being kept in custody at a high security prison.
Writing on his Facebook page, Hichilema said: "We would like to assure you that we are alive and still in good spirits, despite numerous measures aimed at killing our spirit."

'Soros wanted to topple E Guinea leader,' UK mercenary tells Paris court
Paris - Former British mercenary Simon Mann, who led a failed 2004 coup in Equatorial Guinea, has accused US billionaire George Soros of plotting to overthrow its president, in testimony at a high-profile trial in Paris.
He also accused William Bourdon, a lawyer for the anti-corruption NGO Transparency International, of being part of a plot to topple President Teodoro Obiang Nguema, Africa's longest serving leader after ruling his country with an iron fist for nearly four decades.

Nigerian university builds 'a series of trenches' to repel Boko Haram
Maiduguri – A Nigerian university in the northeastern city of Maiduguri is reportedly building a series of trenches to repel Boko Haram militants.
According to BBC, the trenches were "designed to make it impossible for the militants to drive into the university as well as making it harder for them to access the campus on foot".
